I made a wind catcher one day! I made it out of a piece of paper that I just taped together and then taped little unicorn decoration things on it from Molly's birthday party. I thought it was really cool and Mommy really liked it, too! We hung it outside for a little bit until it started raining. I love being creative like this!
I've been practicing cartwheels for a long time now and am getting really good at them! One day mommy took a video of me doing 16 cartwheels in a row! 16!! Can you believe that?! You can watch me here! I'm really good at them, but she still says I can't do a one-handed cartwheel. She's afraid I might break my arm or something.....
A few weeks ago I went to a different school in town and took a test to be considered for the WINGS program through school. And guess what?! I got a high enough score to get in! WINGS is a program for gifted students in the Springfield Public School system and I'll go to this school one day a week during the regular school year! I'm really excited to do this and hope I really like it! Mommy and Daddy are really proud of me and also said that if I went and decided I didn't like it then I didn't have to stay. That's kind of nice to know that! I won't get to find out anymore about it until August, so that's kind of stinky, but oh well!
I really like to read! One of the places I like to read is on the driveway when sitting in the donut pool ring we have! It's fun to sit there and read!
I learned how to type this year in computers class! I learned where to put my fingers at on the keyboard and can do a pretty good job of typing! I even got a Positive Principal Referral one day from my computer teacher for how good I did learning how to type! Mommy took a video of me typing one night and you can me type here!
I got a new, free pair of Converse tennis shoes and Bombas socks last week at school! Isn't that super cool?! There's an organization called One Sole Purpose who donates shoe to schools for the kids there. Mommy said there's 375 kids at my school! That's a lot of shoes and socks! They had people measuring out feet and then helping us pick out the right shoe for us. I got gray shoes and I really like them! It's super cool having new shoes like this! They are so stylish!
My dance recital was last Saturday and it was a lot of fun! I had such a pretty costume! It was sequins and a really pretty turquoiseish/blue color. I really loved it! I got there early because Mommy volunteered to help with everyone backstage. It was fun that she was there! I danced to two songs. One was "Zero to Hero" and it was my jazz dance. After that I danced to "Put On A Happy Face" and it was my ballet dance. Everyone told me I did a really good job and I think I really did! I do like to dance and had a fun time!
I really like to draw things on canvas frames. Mommy got me some a while ago and for my birthday and here are some of what I've made. I guess you're maybe supposed to paint on the canvas, but I just like to draw pictures with my markers. Mommy uses them as decorations around our house, too. I think they look really good!
Daddy surprised us by taking us to Andy's last weekend and I love Andy's! It's frozen custard and it's so good! I always get a double scoop of chocolate in a cone and eat all of it. I really enjoyed it this time when we went and got it all over my mouth! I didn't care because it was soooooo good!
I got to go to a friend's birthday party at Chuck E Cheese last week! It was really fun because a lot of friends from my school class were there and we got to play a bunch of games and had some yummy pizza and cake. I don't have a bunch of pictures from the party because I was there by myself for a long part of the party and that was so cool! Mommy had some things to do, so she asked my friend, Myah, if they could take me to the party. So I got to ride with Myah to the party and be there by myself for a little bit until Mommy came before it was over. It was really cool being independent like that! The picture that she did take is a picture of me on a ride that makes you think you're on a rollercoaster, but you're really not. It was a super fun ride!
Mother's Day was last Sunday and I made some special presents for Mommy! I made her a card at school that my art teacher helped me make. It's this card here. She had cut the strips on it for us and I drew and cut out the flowers and glued them on. I think it looks really good! I also came up with the note I wrote her all by myself. She said on the night before her first Mother's Day with me I was up all night crying, so her day didn't turn out as she'd planned. I think this day turned out a lot better!
We have counselor time at school and right now we're learning about careers and what we want to do someday when we don't go to school anymore. The counselor had us fill out a kind of job application and I thought it was really fun to do! Here's my job application for being an actress!
I played checkers with a friend last week and wanted to play at home. Mommy said we don't have a checkerboard, but gave me a piece of cardboard and said I could make a board, so I did! Mommy made the lines for me and then I colored in all the squares. I used some pretty bead things that I got for my birthday for the checker pieces and we played checkers! It works so well! I even made an instruction sheet on how to play checkers!
We had my family birthday party last Saturday and it was a lot of fun! Gramma and Grampa came for lunch and then we played Uno Attack together. I really like this game and it was fun playing with them! Then Gumma and Poppy and the Herndons came over and we played some and had dinner, presents, and cake. After that we went outside and played kickball in our backyard. That was so much fun! We played girls against boys and I'm pretty sure the girls won!
I got some really fun presents! I got some new clothes, jammies, a robe, a nice big pillow for the comfy corner in my room and a swimsuit coverup! I had a super great 8th birthday!
