Last week on spring break we went to the Laura Ingalls Wilder house in Mansfield, Mo. I'd wanted to go for a while and Mommy said we could go so I was excited for that. It was about an hour away and they had a museum with lots of things of Laura's and then two houses we got to tour. Most everything was original to her house when she lived there so that was cool. I've read one of her books and Mommy bought me a another book while we were there. It was a fun time!
I had to write a paper in school about why it's important to reduce ocean waste. You can read it below. I think I did a good job on it and, of course, I got an A!
I competed in my very first piano competition a few weeks ago called Federation. I had to do one of the required songs and then another song of my choice and had to memorize both. I started working on them in January and had them memorized in no time. I was excited for it, but kind of nervous, too. I got a 5 rating, which is a Superior rating, the highest you can get! I'm really proud of myself and think I did a good job! I also loved the piano I played on. It was soo nice! I can't wait until next year to do this Federation again.
I had a piece of artwork in the All Schol Art Exhibit again this year! This is the third time I've had art at the art museum! I think it's pretty cool to see my artwork there and everyone else gets to see it, too! I really enjoyed working on this project and think I did a really good job!
So one night I slept in my curlers and then took them out the next morning to see how curly my hair was. It was so curly and I loved it! I want to do that again sometime soon!
We celebrated the 100th day of school last month and I dressed up as an old woman! I wore a dress with my robe all day and had a cane and my life alert button. I also wore my hair in curlers for the day and surprisngly it wasn't too uncomfortable! That's probably my last time to dress up and celebrate the 100th day of school because I bet we won't do that in middle school!
We had a snow day three Mondays ago and it was fun because it was a real snow day meaning we actually had snow! We didn't even really think we'd have a snow day so that made it even better. The snow was really wet and it was great for making a snowman. I had fun working on a snowman and kind of even making a heart, too. It all started to melt by the end of the day but that's okay! It was fun while it lasted!
At Molly's last volleyball game I was the line judge. The lady was asking for volunteers and none of the adults wanted to do it so I said I'd do it. I thought it would be fun and it was, but it got kind of boring! It was hard to remember to pay attention all the time. I don't think I'll do it again if asked but I guess it was a good experience! I known all the adults liked not having to do it!
I wanted a piano for my Valentine box and Mommy came through for me! We found an idea on Pinterest and Mommy used that as the guide for my box. I think mine ended up looking better than the one online, too! She put it all together and Daddy spray painted it black for me. I made the keyboard and sheet music for it. I even recorded myself playing the piano and my teacher let me bring my phone and play my music during the Valentine party so music would be coming from my piano box!
My teacher had a competition for all the Valentine boxes. We could enter ours in one of four different categories and the winner of each category would win a giant Hershey's kiss! I entered mine in the romantic category and I won!
Mommy got a puzzle table for Christmas and I've had fun working on puzzles using her table! It's fun to do puzzles, especially the big, 1,000-piece puzzles! We did a couple that were 500 pieces and they didn't seem to take very long. I really like the bigger puzzles. They're fun to work on and nice to sit in the basement and watch tv while working on them!
I've been wanting a blazer for a long time and Mommy and Daddy bought me one last weekend! I love it and it's exactly what I had in mind! I wore it to school last Tuesday and then wore it for my piano Federation competition last Saturday. I love it!
I had my very first orchestra concert last Thursday. It was the fifth grade orchestra from my school and then three other schools had their 5th grade orchestras there, too. It was at the middle school that everyone at my school will go to. We played five songs and they were all really short and kind of easy. Most of them were nursery rhymes, but those are easy to start with. You can watch one of our songs here. I think we did good overall!
