I did some more cooking a few weekends ago! I made some Chewy Chocolate Cookies from the cookbook I got for Christmas. These cookies were really, really good! Everyone like them and said I should make them again. I had to melt some chocolate chips to put in them along with cocoa powder, so they were really chocolatey. It was fun making them and I will definitely make them again!
I made some Strawberry Fools last weekend! I got the recipe out of the kid's recipe cookbook Gramma and Grampa gave me for Christmas. I was really excited to make them and they weren't too had to make, either, but Mommy helped me. I had to start with cleaning and slicing strawberries. I had never done that before and it was different working with a knife, but I did it. Then I made a kind of jam by heating the strawberries and sugar on the stove and when that was done I set them in the fridge to cool off. Then when it was time to put them together I made whipped cream! I used a mixer and whipped it all up! I folded the strawberry jam into the whipped cream and then layered it in a bowl with strawberry slices. It was really good! I want to make these again and all the other recipes in my cookbook!
New Year's Eve was really fun! We went to our friend's house, Amelie and Maren, and always have a lot of fun when we go to their house. We had pizza then played some fun games together. Then we got to shoot off the fireworks that we had leftover from the 4th of July. It was a lot of fun! Oh, and we even got to do a toast with sparkling grape juice! And me and Molly got to put our mattresses in the family room and sleep down there that night! I wanted to stay up until the 11pm countdown when Mommy and Daddy celebrate New Year's, so they let me come up to their room at 10:50 so we could watch the countdown on TV. Then after that I went back downstairs and I read and I stayed up by myself unitl the real midnight and did my own countdown! I had a fun New Year's Eve!
I can play the viola! My friend, Maren, has a viola and we went to her house on New Year's Eve and Maren showed me how to play an easy song. I think I did a really good job and really liked playing it! You can watch me play it here!
I got a cool Simon game for New Year's! I'd played one at school and told Mommy about it. She remembered it and got it for me as a New Year present. It's fun to play and really starts to get hard after a while! Simon does a pattern and then you have to keep repeating the pattern and it starts going faster and faster! It gets tricky to remember the correct color patterns and times you hit each one.
Before Christmas we went out to eat and then went to Jordan Valley Park to look at Christmas lights. We do this same thing every year and it's fun! I really like going to the park and this year I found a rock that I love! It was really cool to climb up on it and I'd love to go back when it's a really nice day and sit on the rock and read!
At school me and two of my friends got to make a book trailer for a book that we like. Our school librarian helped us and showed us how to use the program we used and we put it together. Me and Meleah took turns reading our script. Olivia didn't want to read. All the other fourth and fifth graders will make a trailer, too, and our school librarian will show them on the video announcements each day. I think it's really cool!
