I'm 7!

Yesterday was my birthday and I'm finally 7!! I was so excited to turn 7 and I think my 7th birthday was the best birthday ever! I had breakfast in bed and Mommy surprised me with having a birthday parade for me where lots of my friends drove by to say happy birthday to me. Some friends gave me presents and some friends even got to get out of their cars and play on the driveway with me. Oh it was so much fun to see my friends! My teacher even stopped by to say happy birthday and my new friend, Zoey, came over and I loved seeing her in person! It was a birthday miracle!

I've really wanted a razor scooter and Gumma and Poppy got that for me! Gramma and Grampa gave me kitty jammies which I've really wanted, too! After dinner I got to have a Zoom call with Gumma, Poppy, Gramma, Grampa, and the Herndons so they could watch me open my presents and sing happy birthday to me. It was really neat! I just had the best day ever! You can watch some of my birthday parade here, here, and here and you can watch my Zoom party here!

Fruit Of The Spirit

We've been having a Bible study time a few days each week during home school. We are now learning about the fruit of the spirit. I'd kind of already learned about it at VBS a few years ago, but it's been fun to learn about them again! We watch some videos from YouTube on our TV and they're really neat. It's from Saddleback Kids and they have really cool videos. One day I wrote out the fruits of the spirit on our driveway. You can watch me explain them here!

My New Friend!

I made a new friend while being stuck at home during all this coronavirus stuff! Her name is Zoey and she's actually in first grade at my school, just like me. She just isn't in my class. She's in Mrs. Sweet's class and I'm in Mrs. Hemphill's class. We started talking on Messenger Kids and have a super fun time sending each other stickers and emojis! Mommy said she knows Zoey's Mommy and she even worked with Zoey's gramma! That's super cool! Zoey sent me and Molly a friendship bracelet in the mail last week! That was so super cool! I really like Zoey and can't wait to play with her in person sometime soon!

Sculpture Walk!

Last Wednesday we went on a sculpture walk in downtown Springfield and it was really cool! Mommy has been talking about doing it for a long time and we finally got to do it. There's just a bunch of sculptures set up around downtown and there's a map that tells you where they are all located. We got the map and walked up and down the streets looking for all the sculptures. It was really fun seeing them and I had fun taking my picture at them. It was neat to learn how to read a map, too. One of the sculptures was my favorite because it kind of looked like a shower and I pretended to wash my hair under the shower!

I'm The Featured Student!

Each day for homeschool my teacher features one of us kids and a project we did the day before. She talks about the featured students on her morning announcements and on our morning meeting conference call. So far I've been the feature student two times! The first time was for the JoJo Bow story I wrote! Our writing prompt for the day was "I can't believe I ate...." and then we were supposed to finish the sentence and write some more sentences to go along with it. We could finish the sentence however we wanted and I finished it with "a JoJo Bow!" I thought it was a super funny story so I put my two JoJo Bows next to the story and sent a picture of it to my teacher. I also recorded a video of myself reading it, which you can watch here! My teacher loved it so much that she made me the feature student for this project!

The next thing I was featured for was the nature tic tac toe game we were supposed to make for a science project one day. We were supposed to find sticks or something from nature to make the game with and then use leaves or rocks or something to play the game with. I used sticks for my game and then leaves and woodchips for the Xs and Os. I played against Mommy and of course, I won!

Science Experiement!

We did a science experiment the other day using pennies and it was kind of cool! We had to mix vinegar (which is super stinky) and salt in two separate bowls. We placed six pennies in each bowl and let them rest for a little while. Then we took them out and rinsed one set of pennies off under water and the other set of pennies we just set out to dry. After a while we looked at the pennies to see what had happened and found that the pennies that did not get rinsed off had turned green! This was a neat experiment!

Piano Playing!

I love to play the piano! I've really been liking my piano lessons and am so thankful that they've been able to continue even though we can't go to my teacher's house. We just go them over FaceTime and it works out really well! Last week my teacher wanted me to send her a video of me playing one of my sight reading songs, so I did! You can watch me play here!

My Color Wheel

I still get to do art class even though we're not going to school now. My art teacher posts assignments online for us to do and it's been fun. Last week I got to make a color wheel out of things in our house. I had a fun time finding lots of things that had colors of the color wheel - yellow, green, blue, purple, red, and orange - and putting them into a circle. I even added a fun little rainbow that I have to the middle of it! I sent a picture of my color wheel to my art teacher and she said she loved it, especially the rainbow in the middle!

Home School!

So I've been going to school at home now and the past two weeks. My school is closed because of all the coronas going around. It's been pretty fun so far. It took a few days to get used to, but I think I like having Mommy as my teacher. The first day we had homeschool I got to have morning announcements with my principal and we said the Pledge of Allegiance, along with our school pledge. Then I got to have a video conference with my teacher and some of the students in my class. We do that every day at 9am. It's really fun to see my friends still and get to share with them. I also get to do music class via video conferencing with my music teacher. My computer, art, and PE teacher all post work for me to do, too. Mommy has a schedule for us and we go by it pretty well. Sometimes we don't do everything on the schedule, or we end the day early. I like that Mommy is flexible like that! I know I'll have to do homeschool at least until April 24. I don't know what will happen after that. I sure hope I can go back to school so I can see everyone! You can watch my morning announcements here, my homeschool music class here!

I'm A Salesman!

Our school PTA is selling coupon books for a fundraiser and they asked all the kids at school to sell them, too. They are also giving out prizes based on the number of books you sell! I had a goal to sell 10 so I could get the limo ride to a pizza lunch prize and then after that I had a goal to sell 13 so I could get this really cool toy they had. Guess what!? I sold 13 coupon books!! I don't think I'll get the limo ride and pizza lunch because of the coronas, but I'm pretty sure I'll still get my cool prize!

I sold my coupon books to some of my family and then Daddy took me around to different people at his work and I sold a bunch there! He went with me, but he said I had to give the sales pitch myself. You can watch my sales pitch here! I think I did a really good job, what do you think?!

Driveway Art!

On Sunday we made some fun driveway artwork! Mommy taped off a bunch of different shapes in a square for us and then we colored each section with different colors of sidewalk chalk. When we were all done we took off the tape and had a really pretty piece of artwork. It was really fun to work on and turned out really neat, too! Too bad it rained a few days later so we didn't get to see it very long.
